Angola LNG at FILDA 2008

The 2008 Luanda International Trade Fair (FILDA) held 15 – 20 July marked the 25th anniversary since it was first organized in July 1983. This year’s Fair held at EXPO Angola under the theme “Rehabilitation of Infrastructures in Angola – a vote of confidence in the Development”.

More than 550 companies (national and international) attended FILDA this year. International participants included companies from Botswana, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Brazil, Portugal, Pakistan, Spain, Germany, China, Singapore and Turkey.

Angola LNG was present with a 120 sq meter booth decorated in red and white with key messages and pictures from the Final Investment Decision (FID) signing ceremony (December 10, 2007), the LNG plant design, implementation of the Environmental, Socioeconomic and Health Impact Assessment commitments, Biodiversity work, Dredging and Land Reclamation progress, Recruitment and Training events and progress in promoting Local Content.

Following the official opening of FILDA on 15 July by the Prime Minister, Fernando Dias dos Santos “Nando”, several ministries and other government institutions and business organizations visited the Angola LNG booth.

Friday, 18 July, was Petroleum Day. It was marked by the visit of Mr. Desidério de Graça Veríssimo da Costa, Angolan Minister of Petroleum, and his cabinet, accompanied by Mr. Manuel Domingos Vicente, Sonangol CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors, and other dignitaries. They reviewed the material in the booth and signed encouraging messages in the visitor’s book. The Minister of Petroleum commended the Oil and Gas sector for its valuable contribution to the economic progress of the country.

Other government officials that visited the Angola LNG booth at FILDA included the Minister of Urbanism and Environment, Diekumpuna N'sadisi Sita José, the Minister of Industry, Joaquim Duarte da Costa, Minister of Energy, José Maria Botelho de Vasconcelos, Minister of Hotel Industry and Tourism, Eduardo Janotão Chingunji, and Minister of Justice, Manuel Aragão.
